Race Report - Hope Road Race
On Saturday morning we were all greeted by beautiful sunny sky's calm conditions. Unfortunately the temperature was hanging around 40-45 degrees, which made the beginning of the race a bit chilly. The expert men took off at a modest pace, and were at one point accompanied by the sport/master men and expert women. As the race heated up, a beak formed that featured Sunny Gill, racing in his last race before he heads off to south-east Asia to do some relief work. The chase that followed to bring them back caused a lot of damage, and sent a few guys off the back. Once the break was caught, there were a series of attacks, but none were successful until Tom Peichel got a gap in the closing miles of the race. Sunny, a little worn out from his efforts in the earlier break, gave his race to Jim Peot by leading him out and giving him a gap on the rest of the field. In the end, Tom won it, followed by Brian Bonney, then Big Jim, giving the team the best result of the year so far. Sorry, no pictures.
