Success at 24 hours of Matanuska

The team dominated Alaska's big 24 hour race this weekend. Speedway riders took 1st with Carey and 3rd with Mike B. in the solo 12 hour race, 2nd in the solo 24 hour race with Chet, and Speedway/Humpy's presented by Gordon the Fish dominated the 24 hour team race, easily winning the main event with 23 laps completed (before 10:30!), as well as the fastest midnight hot lap (thanks to Tim), sweetest pit award, and probably the most beer consumed over the 24 hour period. Also, the team was easily the best dressed there.

The team was testing a new recovery drink
made by the Midnight Sun Brewery. Results
were good.

Chet going out for another lap early Sunday.

The top three finishers in the 24 hr solo division.
These guys should look a lot more tired.

12 hr solo on a unicycle. Easily the
toughest guy out there.

Kincaid Kup #2

Results are out... Congrats to Carey! Speedway had a strong showing, with 6(?) of the top 13. (I'm not sure exactly who's affiliated with Speedway or not.)

Should have been 7 out of top 14 if our non-beer-drinking-after-training-ride cyclist would have been able to follow the bright pink flags. Unless that was due to my derailleur taking them out during the pre-ride... hmmm... Next time Brent, next time.

Next event... 24 Hours of Matanuska at Kepler-Bradley this Sat.-Sun. If you're not riding, you can still swing by and have a beer with the team! Just look for a white E-Z UP canopy tent (most likely next to a green VW).

Brent heading to Kaladi-Subway?

Brent Gorman declined to drink a beer after Monday's training ride, fueling speculation that he has accepted an offer with team Kaladi. To his credit though, he did actually show up to the ride, which is more than can be said about a certain other member of the team (cough, cough...Sunny).

Spring Update

Spring has come and gone and now we're in full blown summer. The team has produced some quality results so far:
  • John Lackey 3rd in the April Potter Hill Climb
  • John 2nd in stage 1 (Highland Road hill climb) of the spring stage race
  • John 1st in stage 2 (Ft. Rich Crit) of the spring stage race
  • John 3rd again at the May Potter Hill climb
  • Sunny 1st in the Ft. Rich crit
  • Carey Grummelut 2nd at the Kincaid Road Race
  • Carey 1st at the first Kincaid mt. bike race
The team also made an appearance at the Tour of Fairbanks, but after some tough luck, were unable to contest the GC competition. We were able to take some impressive individual stage results, though, including John's 2nd place finish in stage 3. Here's some pictures:
